Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the Plain Reps app ("Plain Reps", "the app", "we") handles your data. In short: we do not collect, sell or share any personal data. Your workout data belongs to you and is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account.

1. No account and no data collection

Plain Reps does not require an account or registration. We do not run our own servers for your data and we do not collect any personal information. We have no access to the workouts, notes or media you create in the app.

2. Data stored on your device and in iCloud

The following data is created by you and stored locally on your device:

If you are signed in to iCloud, this data is synced through Apple's CloudKit to the private database of your personal iCloud account. This allows your data to stay in sync between all devices that use the same Apple Account. Data in your private iCloud database can only be accessed by you. We as the developer cannot see, read or export it. The storage and transfer are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed in to iCloud or have disabled iCloud for Plain Reps, your data stays only on your device.

3. Photos and videos

You can attach photos and videos to exercises. For this, the app may ask for access to your Photo Library to select existing images and videos. The app does not access your camera or microphone.

Access is only requested when you use these features, and you can change it at any time in the iOS Settings. Attached photos and videos are stored inside the app on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party.

4. Notifications and Live Activities

The rest timer can ask for permission to show notifications, so it can alert you when your rest time is over. The timer can also be shown as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen. Notifications are created locally on your device. No data is sent to us.

5. Exercise search (AscendAPI)

The Explore tab lets you search an exercise database provided by AscendAPI through RapidAPI. When you search, the search term and the selected exercise are sent to this service to load exercise names, images and instructions. No personal data, workout data or identifiers are sent with these requests. As with any internet request, the service provider can technically see your IP address. Please refer to the privacy policies of AscendAPI and RapidAPI for details.

6. App settings

Settings such as your preferred app language are stored locally on your device and are not shared.

7. No tracking, analytics or advertising

Plain Reps does not use any tracking, analytics, advertising or crash reporting services from third parties. We do not track you across apps or websites.

8. Deleting your data

You can delete sessions, exercises, templates, notes and media directly in the app. Deleting the app removes all data stored on the device. To also delete the data in iCloud, open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage), select Plain Reps and delete its data.

9. Children

Plain Reps does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The latest version is always available on this page, with the date of the last update at the top.
